I was first introduced to acrylic paint at the age of 16 by a teacher at Bowmanville High School. It was a very natural medium for me and I took to it like a baby takes to breathing. I’ve played with wood panels, plywood sheeting, galvanized and corrugated steel, and several other grounds for painting. But my greatest success has always been within the embrace of that old classic, canvas.

I build my own double thick stretcher frames out of select pine and quarter round, with a preference for tight weave canvas that allows a gentle featheriness to my brushstrokes. I’ve recently graduated to Golden brand ‘OPEN’ acrylics which allow for some of the blending benefits of oils without the need for heavy solvents during clean up.
