This is my latest foray into expressing myself through visual media. In an effort to speed up my personal drawing process, I’ve been using Prismacolor greyscale markers to flesh out these works before attacking them with my ballpoint pens. Putting all the figurative tones into place first lets me eliminate a lot of time consuming, form building crosshatching. The very nature of markers also offers up moments to take advantage of happy accidents that occur during their application.
In the end, the product I’m greeted with can be subtle or very dynamic while retaining much of the look of my regular drawing technique. A few final touches of gouache add a hint of colour and highlights, and each piece is matted, framed and made ready for display.
